When Do Birth Aid Payments Start? How Many Applications Have Been Received?

Record-Breaking Birth Aid Applications: 169,000 Applications, Payments Begin in May

Since applications for birth aid began on April 8, the number of applicants has rapidly increased to 169,921. The first payments will be transferred to mothers’ accounts in May, according to the ministry.

Birth Aid Program 2024: Who Can Benefit and What Are the Conditions?

Minister Göktaş outlined three categories of financial support for families:

 

• First child: A one-time payment of 5,000 TL.

• Second child: A monthly allowance of 1,500 TL.

• Third child: A monthly payment of 5,000 TL.

The majority of applications were for first-child support, with 73,317 families applying. 51,128 families applied for second-child support, 29,879 families for third-child support, and 15,597 families for support for three or more children.

Regional Distribution of Applications: Which Provinces Lead?

The highest number of applications came from Istanbul, followed by Ankara and Şanlıurfa. Analyzing application data nationwide, birth aid has been particularly popular in metropolitan areas.

Family and Youth Fund: Support Programs for Young People

Beyond birth aid, Minister Göktaş also discussed support projects for young people. So far, 91,179 couples have applied to the Family and Youth Fund, highlighting a rising age trend in marriage. To support young people, various discount programs will be expanded.

Public institution benefits include:

 

• Special discounts for young people on Turkish Airlines (THY) and Turkish State Railways (TCDD).

• Discount agreements with household appliance and furniture firms, reaching up to 40%.

Social Media Regulations: How Will Children Be Protected Online?

Minister Göktaş mentioned ongoing efforts to regulate social media to protect children. Last year, the ministry intervened in more than 2,500 harmful online content cases, and discussions with digital platforms are continuing.

Key developments include:

 

• Regulatory talks with Wattpad and Roblox representatives.

• Social media restrictions for children under 13.

• New policies to ensure safer internet use for children aged 13-16.

Birth Aid and Support Programs Advancing Family Year Objectives

The birth aid program continues to generate strong interest in Turkey. As payments start in May, hundreds of thousands of families will benefit financially. In addition, marriage support programs, public sector discounts, and social media safety regulations are expected to expand under the Family Year initiative.

The ministry aims to accelerate the birth aid process, supporting more families, with plans to introduce additional social service projects in the coming period.
