Official Gazette of June 2, 2025, Published: MEF University Regulation Amended

ANKARA – The Official Gazette, number 32918, published today (Monday, June 2, 2025), announced a significant new regulation in the field of higher education. Amendments to MEF University's English Preparatory Program Education, Training, and Examination Regulation include provisions that will directly impact students' preparatory program processes and examination conditions.

The regulation, titled "REGULATION ON AMENDMENT TO THE MEF UNIVERSITY ENGLISH PREPARATORY PROGRAM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXAMINATION REGULATION," which was prepared by MEF University and published in today's Official Gazette by the Presidency General Secretariat's Directorate General of Law and Legislation, is reshaping the structure and operation of the university's English preparatory education. These changes comprehensively amend Article 7 of the existing regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette dated October 21, 2014, and numbered 29152.

Key Changes and Details within the Regulation:

• New Five-Level Structure: The English Preparatory Program will now consist of five distinct levels: namely, the 1st level, 2nd level, 3rd level, 4th level, and the faculty preparatory level. This new structure aims to help students develop their English proficiency through a more progressive system.
• Semester Durations and Flexibility: The duration of each level during the Fall and Spring semesters has been set as half a semester. The duration of the faculty preparatory level, for students who begin at the start of the term, will be one semester. This system offers students a more modular educational opportunity.
• Summer School Option: The regulation also introduces the possibility for students starting from the 1st level to complete the faculty preparatory level in summer school. This provision provides significant flexibility for students to complete the program in a shorter period or make up for deficiencies.
• Weekly Course Hour Standard: The new regulation explicitly states that the weekly course hours for each level cannot be less than 20 hours. This article aims to guarantee the quality of education and ensure students receive intensive language training.
