Portakal-Porvil Strike Concludes Victoriously After 28-Day Resistance: Collective Bargaining Agreement Signed

GEBZE, Turkey – The strike at Portakal-Porvil, led by a union affiliated with DİSK, has successfully concluded with gains after a determined 28-day struggle. A collective bargaining agreement was signed following an agreement reached between the union and the employer on June 3, 2025.

The strike, which commenced on May 7, 2025, was initiated after a five-month collective bargaining process failed to yield an agreement on wages and social rights. The resolute resistance of the workers, championed by the Gebze Branch of the union, led to the successful acceptance of the union’s demands.

The decisive meeting took place at the union's general headquarters, with discussions commencing in the morning and extending until evening. Following the comprehensive talks, the 2nd Term Collective Bargaining Agreement, covering the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026, was officially signed by both parties.

Present at the signing ceremony were the union's General Secretary Ahmet Baranlı, General Financial Secretary Mehmet Kaya, along with representatives and workplace managers from Portakal-Porvil company, and executives from the Gebze Branch.

The union expressed its profound gratitude to all trade unions, democratic mass organizations, political parties, and class allies who demonstrated solidarity throughout the strike. Special thanks were also extended to the people of Gebze and the union's members for their unwavering support.

The statement concluded with the powerful declaration, “Long live our organized struggle, long live class solidarity!” The union expressed its hope that the newly signed agreement would bring positive outcomes for the workers and the organized labor structure.
