BARTIN – A tragic industrial accident occurred early this morning in the Muratbey Village area of Bartın's Central district. At approximately 07:30, a service minibus transporting textile workers overturned, resulting in the death of 49-year-old Fatma Demircan and injuries to 19 other workers.
The service minibus, carrying workers from the Kumluca Town of Ulus district to the city center, lost control for an undetermined reason and rolled over. Following reports from eyewitnesses, numerous health, fire, and gendarmerie teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Textile Worker Fatma Demircan Succumbs to Injuries
Fatma Demircan, a 49-year-old textile worker, was severely injured in the crash and died at the scene despite all interventions. She was registered in the Kumluca Town population.
The 19 injured workers were taken by ambulance to Bartın State Hospital and other nearby health facilities for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
The Worker Health and Safety (İSİG) Assembly officially recorded the incident as a "workplace murder" (iş cinayeti), drawing attention to the lack of safety and inspection in worker transportation services. A detailed investigation into the cause of the crash has been initiated.
