Hatay Forest Fire Enters Second Day: 920 Homes Evacuated, Aerial Intervention Resumes

Hatay – A forest fire that broke out in Hatay's Dörtyol district continues into its second day. As the flames approach residential areas, hundreds of homes have been evacuated, and aerial firefighting efforts have resumed.
The forest fire, which started yesterday at approximately 4:30 PM in the Kırmızıburun area of Çökek Yaylası, located in Dörtyol district, Hatay, is still active on its second day. Fueled by strong winds throughout the night, the flames have spread to residential areas near the border of Payas district.
Teams from the Regional Forest Directorate have dispatched numerous fire tenders, fire trucks, and forest workers to the region to combat the blaze. Aerial support, which was suspended overnight, resumed with the morning light. It has been reported that 404 vehicles and 1,100 personnel are currently involved in the firefighting efforts.
Due to the fire, 920 homes in 9 plateaus have been evacuated, and 1,870 people have been moved to safe zones. Authorities state that the spread of the fire has slowed down with the decrease in wind intensity, but the teams are continuing their intensive work.
Officials emphasized that the priority is to ensure the safety of the surrounding environment and to prevent the flames from spreading to residential areas. Warnings are being issued to citizens in the region, and developments are being closely monitored.
