Delegates from unions affiliated with the Senegal CSA Confederation visited HAK-İŞ Confederation and HİZMET-İŞ Union. During the meeting, the joint struggle against water privatization and bilateral collaborations were discussed.
HAK-İŞ Confederation and its affiliated union HİZMET-İŞ hosted union representatives from the Senegal CSA Confederation in Ankara on June 25, 2025. The visit took place at the invitation of Enerji Bir-Sen.
At the meeting, İdris Ersoy, HAK-İŞ Deputy General Chairman and HİZMET-İŞ Deputy General Chairman, provided the guest trade unionists with information about their union structures, the sectors they are organized in, and their ongoing struggles. Ersoy also touched upon HİZMET-İŞ's collaboration with the Senegal Independent Water Workers' Union.
One of the prominent topics during the discussions was the struggle against water privatization. HAK-İŞ and HİZMET-İŞ emphasized that water is a public right, drawing attention to the importance of international solidarity in this field. "Our struggle against water privatization is vital for the sustainability of social life," they stated.
The parties reached a consensus on developing bilateral relations, establishing joint working groups, and increasing mutual visits. It was also expressed during the meeting that sharing union knowledge and experience would strengthen institutional collaborations.
From Senegal, the general secretaries of SATES, SYNNTIC/SOCOCIM, SDTS, SYTAC, SUT/CSS, and SUDETEN unions participated in the visit. From Turkey, Enerji Bir-Sen General Chairman Hacı Bayram Tonbul, along with Deputy General Chairmen Gürkan Kaya and Mustafa Daşdan, also took part in the discussions.
