Brussels/Ankara – The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) has voiced strong support for public employees across Turkey, who are currently taking to the streets as negotiations for the Public Sector Collective Bargaining Framework have reached an impasse.

According to EPSU's statement, the Turkish government's offer of a 17% wage increase is deemed "far below soaring inflation," failing to meet the basic needs of public sector workers.

In a show of international solidarity, EPSU declared its full backing for the striking employees, asserting that "A decent wage is not an option — it’s a right!" The union’s message underscores the fundamental entitlement of workers to fair remuneration that keeps pace with the cost of living.

The widespread demonstrations highlight the growing discontent among Turkish public employees, who demand a collective bargaining agreement that genuinely addresses their economic hardships.
