Birleşik Kamu-İş Confederation Issues Stern Rebuke to Government: "Fake Diploma Scandal is the Official Face of Administrative Decay!"

ANKARA - As fake diploma and e-Government scandals shake the country's agenda, revealing the extent of decay in public administration, the Birleşik Kamu-İş Confederation has issued a strong statement against the government. The confederation described the infiltration of tens of thousands of people into state positions with fraudulent documents as "the official face of administrative decay," emphasizing that those responsible must be held accountable immediately. The statement highlighted that this situation is the result of organized illegality and deliberate lack of oversight.

Scandal is an Indicator of Institutionalized Illegality

In its sharply worded statement, Birleşik Kamu-İş noted that the country's decline in governance is proven by even deeper scandals whenever people think, "it can't get any worse." The confederation stated that the fake diploma and e-Government scandals clearly show how institutionalized this decay has become. It pointed out that while tens of thousands of people were appointed to undeserved positions with fake diplomas, citizens' electronic signatures from the e-Government system were even used for illicit document forgery. This situation was described as a crime committed not only against the public system but against all citizens of the state.

Striking Examples Paint a "Dystopian" Picture

The statement listed striking examples demonstrating how widespread and dangerous the fake diploma scandal has become:

• Over 400 academics not even being university graduates.

• A drug dealer becoming a Chief Inspector in the Narcotics Branch with a fake diploma.

• Engineers with fake diplomas being entrusted with building dams in the country.

• The diplomas of citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake being sold for a price.

• Many individuals working in the health sector with fake documents despite not being doctors.

Birleşik Kamu-İş argued that these examples are the result of an administrative approach at war with the state etiquette of the Republic and that they have turned the country into a "dystopia." The statement sharply criticized the administration's indifference to the situation, with the phrase, "The Republic, which offered everyone an opportunity to be anything they worked hard for, has been turned into a place where anyone who steals enough can build a career."

"This Crime is an Act of Public Hostility!"

The confederation emphasized that although these organized crimes might be seen as "ordinary crimes," they are essentially "acts of public hostility." The fake diploma scandal, it stated, robs young people who work hard and fight fairly in exams of equal opportunity. The statement added that this situation erodes public trust in the state, destroys faith in justice, and causes citizens to worry about the security of the documents they provide to their own government.

Birleşik Kamu-İş concluded that the wounds opened by this decay can only be healed if the matter is fully brought to light and every official who did not actively participate but failed to supervise, turned a blind eye, and remained silent is held accountable. The confederation announced that it will continue to follow this grave matter and ended its statement with the call, "We demand cleanliness, transparency, and justice; right now!"
