ANKARA – The Turkish Energy Union's (Türk Enerji-Sen) Engineers Commission convened with representatives from the union's branches to assess the problems and demands of engineers and technical personnel in preparation for the upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) process. The report compiled at the end of the meeting was presented to Önder Kahveci, the General Chairman of the Confederation of Turkish Public Employees' Unions (Türkiye Kamu-Sen).
In his opening speech, Şuayip Deniz Demir, General Chairman of Türk Enerji-Sen, detailed the union's past efforts for engineers and technical staff, emphasizing the critical importance of the CBA demands. Demir conveyed a message of determination to bring members' expectations to the negotiation table and defend their rights.
Under the leadership of Vice General Chairman Ahmet Çağlaroğlu, the Engineers Commission conducted intensive work. The commission carried out a comprehensive evaluation of issues faced by engineers and technical personnel, including personal rights, wage disparities, career development opportunities, and working conditions, thereby finalizing their demands.
Upon completing their work, the commission members, accompanied by General Chairman Şuayip Deniz Demir, visited Önder Kahveci, General Chairman of Türkiye Kamu-Sen. During the visit, Türk Enerji-Sen's Engineers Commission's report and CBA demands were presented to Kahveci.
Türkiye Kamu-Sen General Chairman Önder Kahveci also elaborated on the work carried out by Kamu-Sen on behalf of engineers. He stated that in the upcoming period, they would continue to advocate for the improvement of engineers' personal rights and, specifically, the enactment of an Engineering Profession Law. Kahveci's emphasis reignited discussions on a long-debated legal regulation aimed at strengthening the professional rights of engineers.
This initiative by Türk Enerji-Sen is considered an important step for ensuring that the demands of engineers and technical staff are strongly represented at the Collective Bargaining table. The union will enter the CBA process with these determined demands, continuing to defend the rights of engineers and technical personnel in the energy sector.
