ANKARA – Şenay Aybüke Yalçın, the music teacher tragically martyred in a PKK terrorist attack in Batman in 2017, is being commemorated with mercy and gratitude across Turkey on the 8th anniversary of her passing. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin issued a message emphasizing that upholding Yalçın's values and memory is a national responsibility.

Martyred in the Prime of Her Career

Teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın was martyred at just 22 years old in a heinous attack orchestrated by PKK terrorists in Batman's Kozluk district in 2017. She had barely completed a year in her profession. Turkey has never forgotten this idealistic teacher, whose life was cut short in its prime, etching her memory into the nation's collective consciousness.

In his message commemorating the 8th anniversary of Aybüke Yalçın's martyrdom, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that Yalçın was a teacher who had realized her dream, won the hearts of children, and served as an example with her heartfelt devotion to her duty.

"Unfortunately, when she was torn from us as a target of dark intentions, an ideal, a hope, and an embodiment of goodness were also lost," Minister Tekin expressed in his message. Tekin underscored that the name Aybüke is not just a name but "a symbol of patriotism, love for teaching, and a dedicated soul."

Minister Tekin noted that they see the martyred teacher as a light through the values she upheld.
