Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın met Minister Vedat Işıkhan at OHS Week in Kayseri. Yalçın emphasized the importance of safe working environments, stating that the collective effort and struggle for OHS will continue.
KAYSERI – Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan and Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen Confederation, participated in the 38th Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Week program and the OHS Fair in Kayseri, delivering significant messages. President Yalçın visited the exhibition stands and spoke at a panel, emphasizing that occupational health and safety is possible not merely through legislation, but through social awareness and the cooperation of all stakeholders. Memur-Sen reiterated its commitment to fighting for decent working environments, guided by the principle that "the most important indicator of valuing workers' sweat and toil is safe and healthy working conditions."
Memur-Sen, Turkey's largest confederation of civil servants, made its strong voice heard from Kayseri during the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Week, one of the most critical topics in working life. As part of the 38th OHS Week events organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Minister Vedat Işıkhan and Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın met at the fair and panel program in Kayseri.
Minister Işıkhan and President Yalçın toured the stands set up within the OHS Fair, exchanging information with participating companies and organizations. During their visits, they gathered insights into the latest technological developments and innovative solutions in the OHS field.
Delivering a speech at the panel, Ali Yalçın drew attention to the importance of healthy and safe working environments. Yalçın stressed that raising awareness in the field of OHS is possible not just through legal regulations, but through broad social consciousness and the cooperation of all stakeholders. "With this awareness, public sector, private sector, and trade unions must converge on common sense, and act with the understanding that labor is the supreme value," he stated, inviting all stakeholders to collaborate.
In his speech, President Ali Yalçın underscored the principle that "the most important indicator of valuing workers' sweat and toil is safe and healthy working conditions." Yalçın thanked the General Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety and all stakeholders who contributed to the event, expressing Memur-Sen's unwavering determination to continue its fight for healthy, safe, and decent working environments.
The evaluations made at the Occupational Health and Safety Panel in Kayseri and President Ali Yalçın's emphasis once again highlighted that popularizing OHS culture at a societal level and inter-stakeholder cooperation are not just wishes but necessities. Memur-Sen believes that such events are of great importance in ensuring safety in workplaces and preventing occupational accidents. The Confederation announced that it will continue to view occupational health and safety as one of the fundamental elements of its union struggle and will continue to support efforts in this area.
