İnşaat-İş and Yapı-Yol İş Unions secured a major victory at the Referans Pendik site, ensuring all member rights were fully paid. Union organization's power successfully safeguarded worker entitlements in construction.
Istanbul - The struggle for rights by workers who are members of the İnşaat-İş and Yapı-Yol İş unions at the Referans Pendik construction site in Istanbul has reached a successful conclusion. This outcome was achieved through the unions' resolute stance and constructive negotiations with company officials. The unions secured all rights for their members, achieving an exemplary gain, and this process once again highlighted the significance of the union struggle in the construction sector.
While violations of workers' rights and precarious working conditions in Türkiye's construction sector frequently come to the fore, the success of İnşaat-İş Union and Yapı-Yol İş Union at the Referans Pendik site has confirmed the critical role of union organization in protecting workers' rights. As a result of prolonged negotiations and the unions' determined follow-up, the accumulated receivables, severance pays, and other legal rights of the workers at the construction site were fully secured.
According to information obtained, the rights grievances experienced by workers, who are members of İnşaat-İş and Yapı-Yol İş unions, at the Referans Pendik residential and commercial project's construction site in Pendik, Istanbul, were resolved with the intervention of the unions. The comprehensive and at times tense negotiations held between union representatives and company executives ultimately concluded with a favorable outcome for the workers.
Thanks to the unions' persistent follow-up and the solidarity of their members, all legal entitlements of the workers, including their regular wages, overtime pay, seniority, and notice indemnities, were fully paid, thus addressing their grievances. This situation clearly demonstrated the concrete benefits of union organization, especially in a sector as risky and sometimes unregulated as construction.
Officials from the İnşaat-İş Union stated that this process once again proved how vital union organization and determined struggle are in matters of workers' rights. It was emphasized that the dialogue conducted with company officials set an example for how disputes between labor and management can be resolved peacefully and how industrial peace can be achieved. This success also serves as a precedent for workers in other construction projects, encouraging them to pursue their rights.
While the unions' announcement brought smiles to the faces of their members at the Referans Pendik project, it also underlined that the struggle to ensure occupational health, safety, and fair working conditions in the construction sector will continue with determination. Such gains provide significant motivation for unions in their fight against unregistered employment and precarious work practices in the sector.
